Is love a game or is it simply the luck of the draw?
Created by Jesse Baxter.
We had a great, fun time in Vail with Dan and Isa, and our hosts, Megan, Eric, and Roscoe!
We had a nice drive there from Boulder, and then a really nice evening with the whole gang.
Yummy enchiladas and smores…
a perfect night in Vail!
The next day we made a visit to the farmers market, which was really cool (that’s where we were in the shots), then headed out on our journey to Durango.
On the way, we got really lost, which was awful, then back on track and went to visit The Great Sand Dunes National Park, where I -of course- got a STAMP! (Yay for history, Mom!) The Sand Dunes are a National Park because of the efforts of two women, who, in essence, saved them from the Gold Rush! Here are some fun shots of us at the dunes:
So, yesterday I talked about our last visit to Boulder and a little about what we did on the 18th. On the 19th, we had another full day and it was equally as fun!!
Of course, we met with the chairperson from Naropa University, we bought a new camera (because we needed a good one and ours was stolen in Ecuador), and we had an amazing adventure with grocery store sushi! (It was scary.)
We taped a podcast this morning before leaving for Vail, where we’re meeting some friends for an overnight. More details on that fun time tomorrow.
Before we left we found a great photo opp at the grocery store:
And on the road to Vail, we stopped at Buffalo Bill’s grave site and took this beauty:
More to come! Tomorrow, update on the day in Vail, and the drive to Durango!

Mary K.
Jesse and I are spending two full days in Boulder, CO for our ACTion:Ecuador College Tour, and so far we are having the best time!
HISTORY: We’ve been to Boulder before, in January 2007, during our first trip together as a couple and my first time to Denver to meet his good friend Dan and his wife Isa. We came up to Boulder for a day trip and spent the whole day doing touristy things:
We also visited this Meadery, which was really fun although we have no photos of it, and we met this really strange couple. They must have been twice our age, but they were really awkward together and I just remember feeling really weirded out by them… They must have been a new couple, but I really don’t think they were right for each other. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think Jesse and I were ever that awkward around each other, especially not when we were with strangers. hmm…

And, of course, we went to a brewery (we are in Boulder, after all) and sampled all the beers... I got a little tired
Ok, funny little tid-bit, I’m wearing that same white sweater right now… I’m a clothes saver people!!!
So, YESTERDAY was the 18th and we, of course, worked. We went and talked with CU at Boulder about the ACTion Project and if you’d like to read more about that visit, click here. After work, we went over to downtown boulder and explored the Pearl Street Mall, very cool walking street with little shops along the way. I asked one female outfitters store if they sold the WhizFreedom, and of course they did not. (But, it’s ok, because I have MINE!!! YaY)
Then we found this little thrift store, so we decided to check it out. They were selling used costumes for Halloween, a lot of cool, vintage, white dresses… long story short, Jesse went next door to get a drink and wait for me, I took 4 dresses into the fitting room, called my mom, and bought a dress for $38.94, which could very well be my wedding dress! Oh my dear god!!! I can’t believe that happened!
WoW
So, after dinner, we went to see a live recording of etown! That was just amazing! I had no idea they were based here in Boulder, and we just happened to walk by and see that there just happened to be a live taping that night!!! Oh, and we walked in looking for seats and were directed up, and another staff member said, “wait, do you mind the front row?” and we were like, “uh, of course not!!!” So we were up close and personal with the guests, which I’ll talk about later, because we have to get out on the town!
xoxo,
Mary K
So, I think everyone knows I’ve been talking about going to grad school for about 9 months now. I just wanted to say that, YES, I’ve decided to go.
My life is so busy and I’m all scheduled out until the fall of 2011- I’m not kidding- so hopefully I’ll be able to start during the summer of 2010 and work some of the DAT projects into my degree, or if not, I’ll definitly work around them.
Ok, just wanted to pronounce that to the world to hold me accountable and push me forward on this journey. It’s really exciting, and I have a million questions, so if you’ve been there, I’m open for all the advice I can get.
Oh, maybe I should add, my degree will be in International Business and Non-Profit Theatre Management.
Basically, I’m getting a degree in Dramatic Adventure!
The funny thing about blogging is, when you really start to get into it you just want to blog all the time.
I spend so much time each day formulating blogs in my mind. Here are some of the things I thought about blogging today:
1. My friend and I spoke on the phone for a little bit about another friend of ours who we think is in a little bit of an abusive relationship. Now, we’re not talking physical or sexual or I would go in and grab her up in the night, but more of a verbal thing, which can be just as bad. We’re not totally sure if this is even true, I just spent one evening with them when I started to feel like maybe it wasn’t the most healthy situation. Anyway, I thought to blog about this.
2. My obsession with “Roswell”, a tv show from 1999-2002. I think about blogging about this everyday, as I really am obsessed with it. I don’t know why that’s the case, which I guess is why I haven’t written about it, so every day I reformat a blog in my mind talking about it.
Everyday my reasoning is totally different. Recently I’ve had mixed feelings about it, because my favorite character, “Michael”, played by Brendan Fehr, is not living up to the image I had of him during the show. He’s the “bad boy” type in the show and in the end really, well, grew up, I felt, and it was so hot and wonderful, but then I started googling all the characters and found out that he’s really a boy’s man and not a man’s man (meaning, he’s like a kid, basically) and it really shook me. (This is so not a serious issue, even though I feel it’s coming across that way.) Now I just don’t know what to think… however, I am catching up on every episode of CSI Miami from 2005 and 2006 when he was a regular, and I’ll be looking out for his new show, Samurai Girl, which I think is on ABC Family.
Maybe the issue is that I know he doesn’t take jobs as characters he doesn’t like, he’s a little conservative so I think he wouldn’t want to be on Law and Order or any of those shows where they need new actors all the time to play different parts. Anyway, if he WAS going to be on L&O I would totally get my ass back into extra work for a chance to work a day with him. See what I mean!?!? I have totally mixed feelings. On one hand I’m like- be the bad guy again, be the guy that makes out with the girl and gets her in trouble because you’re just so bad it’s good, and on the other hand I’m like watching all the shows where he’s plain jane!
Oh my gosh, also, every job I could find of his before Roswell, he played a bad guy. It’s like after that show he grew a conscience or dried up or something… UH, I don’t know. But, that’s where I am with that… totally conflicted!
3. And don’t get me started today on the election. I just hope people say AWAKE and VOTE!!
4. Also, a big part of my blogging time is spent searching for relevant images for the post. Hope you enjoy my hard work.
So, those are a few rants for the morning. It’s only 10 am where I am in Denver today, so there might be another blog coming.
Stay tuned…
This is Junk Rabbit’s opening piece. I hope you enjoy!

Today is Jesse’s birthday and we’ve been up since 4:30 a.m. this morning, traveled to Denver and gained 2 hours, and will be going out to a pub with our friends, Dan and Isa Sauve, who are hosting us here in Denver.
A LONG day for your birthday!
But, you know Jesse, he’s loving every minute of it!
It’s so inspiring the way he lives his life, so happy all the time- I really don’t think I’ve seen him upset more than 10 times in the 2+ years we’ve known eachother, and probably at least half of those times he was sick! It makes it fun and easy to love him!
Ok, enough with the gushy stuff.
He’s spending the day with his very good friend (I would say “best”, but he has a few “best friends”) Dan- hosting us- and they are creating an awesome video podcast! It is called “Junk Rabbit” and it will be on BlipTV and itunes soon
.
Here’s the image for the Podcast:
The first video, “whatever”, will be the next blog post.
Great way to spend your birthday, good times with good friends
We’re in Denver for the start of Dramatic Adventure’s College Tour. Check out the Tour Schedule and Contact Me if you want to meet up somewhere along the way! (The Tour will be updated as November gets more structured, so keep checking it.)
I haven’t titled this blog yet because I don’t know what I’m writing about exactly. Usually I come in because I need to write something, I want to make an update or get something off my chest, but today I just don’t know…
It has named itself, 179. I’m not going to leave it like that, of course, but what does that mean? It’s not the number of posts by far! hmm, I don’t know why it chose that number…
Tomorrow’s Jesse’s birthday. I love birthdays and I believe people should be spoiled rotten on their birthday! Is that because I want to be spoiled rotten on MY birthday? Maybe- but I also spoil others, so I think it works out.
My mom has always been great at birthdays. I think it’s because her parents are post-Christmas babies (both of them on the 29th) and they always made a big deal about birthdays. So now, she makes a big deal about birthdays, which is great, because I too am a post- Christmas baby (Dec. 30th). She always makes me feel really special on my birthday and that’s something I try to do for other people now, like my sweet Jesse.
Liz though, my sister, she’s the best at birthdays! Well, gift giving in general, she’s the best I know. It must be something in her that was in her before she got to Earth, because she’s just amazing at it. Always thinks really hard about the person, things she and the giftee have in common, and it makes the giftee feel like they are special to her, and that means a lot because when you’re on her good list, you feel like you’re part of the cool crowd.
The only problem is it causes a huge complex for me about what to get her, especially when I was in Ecuador this year and she and Ari went to Mexico a few years ago… at least I can normally call… but anyway, what do you get the person who will get you a 10 times better gift next holiday? It’s stressful.
Why does it turn into that? Stress? Why can’t it just be fun and exciting to shop for gifts for people? It’s not like Liz, or anyone for that matter (except one person and he just can’t be helped), has given me grief about not getting them “the right” present.
SUBJECT CHANGE
Ok, I was just looking at wedding things so now my mind has totally wandered again. I’m just all over the place today, and now I should go change the laundry, or I’ll be all over town naked as a jinny bird!
Aye ya ya, life, it’s so interesting to me today.
Oh, PS, I’m getting ready to help my mom with this really cool project, I hope everyone’s excited for the surprise (coming in October- chill, it’s not THAT far away!)
xoxo
